Today's NYT has a bittersweet
op-ed all about the city of Detroit. I think Paul Clemens, the author, is right: he doesn't phrase it this way, but our collective grief over the state of our city has finally gone through denial, anger, bargaining, and depression to acceptance. Only a god (that is, universal health care and a government bail-out of the pensions) can save Ford and GM now.
